[0:03] From hi-fi speakers i am mark whitney with today's educational minute listen up state the importance of your topic why did you choose this topic tell the listeners why this topic is important to them and why it's important to you right here's an example in a speech about overexposure to the sun you might begin by saying a golden tan may be glamorous

[0:28] but overexposure to the sun can age your skin prematurely and can cause skin cancer. Thus, it is important to protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. That's an example of just informing the audience why you chose this topic and why it's worth their time. Just lay it out right on the nose. Hopefully, the rest of your speech is not so on the nose. But when you're telling people why it's important,

[0:58] it's okay to be on the nose. We'll be back here to discuss on the nose and other body parts tomorrow at 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, unless tomorrow is Saturday or Sunday, in which case we'll be back on Monday.
