FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | SAN DIEGO — Amid charges of vote-rigging and election interference, comedian, Mark Whitney, was elected President of his Toastmasters Club with an unprecedented 100% of the vote.

“100% is better than Putin!” declared Whitney’s campaign manager, Luigi Mangione. “It’s one thing to gun down an insurance CEO in broad daylight. It’s another to express full-throated support for the many controversial changes Mark advocated during our hard-fought 5-7 minute campaign.”

Whitney’s signature issue is the so-called “Reverse Sandwich.”

Toastmasters International has long favored The Sandwich Method of speech evaluation, the century old, tripartite approach of:

  1. Saying something positive about the speech

  2. Suggesting an area for improvement

  3. Finishing with another positive comment

“Excellent eye contact! Perhaps next time with no notes. Can’t wait to hear more!”

The controversial Reverse Sandwich Method is embraced by rabid Whitney followers who yearn for a comedy club vibe.

Former Toastmasters International President, Dr. Sero Tonin, author of the runaway bestseller, That’s Not Funny!, concedes that while the Reverse Sandwich retains the three-step approach to speech evaluation, it is a blunt instrument that crushes new speakers before they have a chance to develop.

“Sandwich is positive, constructive, positive. Reverse Sandwich is negative, positive, negative,” Dr. Tonin explained.

“100% of the vote speaks for itself,” Whitney said. “Opposition is nominal to non-existent. ‘You suck! Nice hair! You suck!’ makes you tough. That, and HiFi meets once a week for an hour. We simply do not have time to waste on things like education. Don’t get me wrong. We love the poorly educated! That I can tell you. By the way, how’s Luigi holding up? And whose the CEO of Spectrum?”
